The now famous drink Bubble Tea (boba) is said to be of Taiwanese origin. It is a drink that was invented in the city of Taichung in the 1980s.
The popularity of this drink quickly spread across Japan and Hong Kong in the ‘90s.
Today, the popularity of bubble tea has spread far and wide and it is now consumed by various kinds of people across the globe.
This amazing drink has quietly crawled into the shores of Nigeria. Want to know where to try bubble tea in Lagos State, Nigeria? Keep reading.
- Bubbletii(AAron’s Lekki Mall, Lekki Phase I; Landmark Retail Boulevard, Plot 2 & 3, Water Corporation Dr, Victoria Island, Lagos.)
Bubbletii has two branches serving Lagosians bubble tea. One in Lekki and another in Victoria Island.
They offer a wide array of bubble tea variants such as berry blast, mango tango, Oreo cookie twist and many others.
My absolute favourite is the Oreo Cookie Twist. The first time I tasted it all the bones in my body sang for joy. Even though I have tried some of the other variants and bubble tea at other places, nothing has beat this yet. I have gone back an unhealthy number of times for more.
At this point I think I will eat anything that has Oreo’s in it. I don’t think the world is ready to hear the foods I think Oreo’s will add a lot to.
- TeaStoria(16b Adewunmi Adebimpe Drive, Lekki Phase I)
TeaStoria has the cutest space ever! The staffs here were very helpful and were very aware of the menu and gave the right recommendations.
I decided on the peach bubble tea and made a silent prayer in my heart that I had not just set my money on fire. The peach bubble tea tasted DIVINE. This was very surprising. I did not expect the peach to be THAT good.
The quantity of the tapioca pearls in this bubble tea was just right. The texture was also very amazing. It didn’t feel like a struggle to take them.
I am definitely looking forward to going back here.
- Bubble Tea Spot(16 Akin Adesola St, Victoria Island, Lagos)
Bubble tea Spot is in the same space as Cafeteria NG.
I had been looking forward to having the bubble tea from here for such a long time. I had the Taro bubble tea and the strawberry vanilla and my sweetness level was sweet. Well, I did not really enjoy it. The strawberry vanilla was much better but still just average.
I want to hope that I went on a bad day. However, I don’t think I am very willing to give it another try.
- Galaxy Bubble Tea(45c SoboArobiodu St, Ikeja GRA.)
Finally, because people on the mainland deserve good things, Galaxy Bubble Tea is located in GRA Ikeja. Galaxy Bubble tea is located in the same compound as Hua Han Korean restaurant and just like the restaurant, the space is really pretty. I should also add that this was the most expensive place I visited on this list.
Here, I tried the galaxy milk tea with coco. The bubble tea was alright. Nothing spectacular. It wasn’t terrible but it did not give me any form of WOW effect. But I am definitely open to trying other kinds of bubble tea here.
They did not have a POS at the time of my visit and they failed to mention until after the drink was ready.
The popularity that bubble tea has gotten makes me wonder if a day will come in the near future when Nigerian drinks like zobo, kunu, and palm wine and so on will spread across all borders and continents across the world.
